    Collagen Induction Therapy: Part Two

    Dr. Manisha Sharma, ND

We are really proud to offer this service at the clinic and put a naturopathic spin on it. We are aiming to support skin and healing from the inside out and to factor in lifestyle and dietary variables to really improve the results for our patients!

So, you’ve read all about what microneedling can do for your skin in our first blog post.  Let’s talk about what to expect during a treatment.

Am I a candidate for this procedure?

Microneedling is suitable for most skin types.  However, it is not suitable for patients who:

    • Have used Accutane (isotretinoin) within the past 3 months

    • Have open wounds, cuts, or abrasions

    • Have had radiation treatment within the past year

    • Have a current herpes simplex (cold sore) outbreak, any other infection, or chronic skin condition in the area

    • Have numbness or lack of sensation in the area

    • Are pregnant or breast feeding

    • Have a history of keloid scars, hypertrophic scars, or poor wound healing

    How is the procedure done?

A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 tiny microneedles is attached to the micropen. Then, the appropriate pen setting is chosen based on your unique skincare needs.  Finally, a thin layer of hyaluronic acid and high grade vitamin C is applied and the pen is gently pressed against the skin while gliding over the treatment area. Pain is minimal due to the application of topical anesthetic.

    How long does it take?

One hour including the time to wash your face, apply topical anesthetic, microneedle, and moisturize the skin.

    What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment, you may notice bright redness to the skin. Recovery can take 24 hours up to a few days.  Most people should be able to return to work the following day.

    When will I see results?

A single treatment can produce noticeable results. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks as collagen production continues.  However, a series of 3-5 treatments is often recommended to achieve optimal results.

How many treatments will I need?

It is recommended for most patients to get a series of 3 treatments spaced out 4-6 weeks apart.  For those with deep wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scars, 6-8 sessions spaced out 6 weeks apart is recommended.

How much does each treatment cost?

Each treatment will be $325.  As an introductory special, if you book a treatment to occur before September 1, you will get $25 off at checkout.
