This is a treatment that can be very effective at improving the appearance of the skin, and results can be maximized with with an individualized diet and supplement regime tailored to your specific skin goals.
Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy, is great for addressing fine lines, acne scars, and improves the skin’s texture, tone, and colour. During this procedure, well-controlled microinjuries are used to aid in the production of collagen and elastin resulting in plumper and more youthful skin. Collagen and elastin are two proteins that are crucial for the skin’s health and appearance as they are responsible for rigidity and elasticity. A reduction in collagen and elastin are seen with time and with exposure to environmental factors such as sun exposure, chemical exposure, and our dry Alberta climate.
The skin’s post treatment recovery process results in a thicker epidermis (outer layer of our skin) and a softer appearance of wrinkles. This procedure also allows for serums, gels, and creams to be absorbed more readily, enhancing their treatment effects. When compared to other treatments that address scarring and wrinkling, such as ablative laser treatments and deep peels, collagen induction therapy is much less invasive as it keeps the epidermis in tact.
You can expect to see results immediately but continued results in texture can be seen over the next month as collagen production is being stimulated. To see the best results, a series of 3-5 treatments is recommended.
